Nowadays, Aquilariais increasingly smuggled to
more and more countries, and Thailand is one of them. We are trying
to promote the legal trading of Aquilaria as Thailand is the first
country to produce oil from the plant. Many countries have tried
to do this without success.
More than 20 years that Siam Krisana Group by Mr. Peerapan Wichitpan
has made many researches to discover the new breed and to get oil
from this valuable plant of South East Asia and South Asia and export
it out.
The new breed is called "Aquilaria Panrapeethai". It is a straight
and strong tree can grow in any kind of soil. To get oil, we have
to make wounds on young plan. Aquilaria Panrapeethai is the combination
of Aquilaria crassa and Aquilaria Subintegra which are strong and
oily breeds. The discovery made a lot of profit to the ones who
are interested in Aquilaria in the long run. The discovery of how
to stimulate the tree of produce oil is to make wounds on the tree.
Normally, the wounds are made on the grown up trees by birds or
insect in deep forests and these old trees will give oil. By science
technique, we can make the tree produce oil from the wound since
it is very young. The two discoveries "The Panrapeethai and The
Stimulation on producing oil" are now registered in Thailand
and the US.

Mr. Panrapee was the first person to discover the
Aquilaria genus, now known as "Panrapee". He is the registered owner
of "Panrapee Aquilaria Breed" and the founder of the technique for
stimulating oil from the plant, ahead of competition from 70 other
countries. He demonstrated his research techniques at the 3rd World
Herb and Fragrant Plant Seminar, held at Pangsuankaew Hotel, Chiang
Mai. This seminar was organized by the Faculty of Science, Chiang
Mai University and Rand Ltd., and hosted by Thailand on 3rd - 7th
February 2003. Princess Mahachakri Sirinthorn inaugurated the fair,
and then visited Highness showed great interest and asked about
the research. During the exhibition, she also encouraged researchers
and agriculturalists to plant more trees and get back a balanced
ecology for the forests and water resources.
Mr. Panrapee has said that both Thais and foreigners showed much
interest in the fragrant plants throughout the period of the fair.
On February 6th, 2003, he was invited to give a lecture to present
his 20 years of research and participants from many countries were
impressed with his research.

Mr. Panrapee added that on February 8th, 2003,
he has invited Dr.Nipon Tuwanond, the rector of Chiang Mai University
with his colleague to Huay Hongkrai agriculture experimental station
at Doi Saked, Chiang Mai. Mr. Chaiwat Sindhuwongse, former misnister
of the ministry of industry had inaugurated and watched the experiment.
Prof. Dr. Prathuangsi Sinchaisee, and officer from Fragrant Plant
Department, Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperation, tested the
experiment. He crushed and fermented the old Aquilaria and then
refined it. The refined fragrant oil can be used for industry goods
and the remains can be used in some kind of medicine and some other
goods.

On February 9th, 2003, 120 foreign researchers
visited the fragrant garden, watched the experiment. Some had never
seen the fragrant plant which is valuable for the people of the
Middle East. The attendees were very much interested; Some came
from Japan-India-Sri Lanka-France-England and the United States
and wanted to buy the registration or to share the capital. But
Mr. Panrapee wanted to develop the experiment. He had tried hard
for over 20 years for Thai people and Thailand to develop this product.
Mr. Panrapee started the experiment in a factory in Cambodia in
1983 until 1986. He traveled in and out of Cambodia from 1987 to
1990. He experimented with 4 - 5 breeds of fragrant trees from wild
forests. He found that the Middle Eastern people consume most of
the fragrant oil. He sent samples to Dubai, Oman, Iran, Saudi Arabia,
India, Egypt, Japan, England, Germany, France and let them try goods.
He produced the fragrant oil from 1991-1995. He planted 3 breeds
of Aquilaria in Trad, Chantaburi, Rayong from 1987-1995. Then, he
planted each breed all over in the following places:
